Descend the slope to the fence. Bear left 40 yards and walk through a trail gate. Continue east and curve right to the fence at the top of the knoll. Bear left, following the fence east on the Mountainview Trail. Zigzag down the slope on seven switchbacks above the Rattlesnake drainage. Descend rock steps and go through a trail gate to Duncan Drive. Cross the road and walk one block on Mountain View Drive to the posted Rattlesnake Greenway. Straight ahead, the path crosses a pedestrian bridge over Rattlesnake Creek to Tom Green Park (Hike 1 7).
The path ends in a quarter mile at a horseshoe bend on Timberlane. Return 50 yards and veer left on a footpath. Follow the edge of Rattlesnake Creek, forming a loop back at the bridge. Continue north and cross a bridge over Williams Water Ditch. Enter a public access easement by a map panel, and cross an access road to the Mountain Water Company dam and reservoir.
