As a result, my research assistants and I called all the pharmacies in South Dakota, North Dakota, Mississippi, Kentucky, Nebraska and Utah to determine if they stocked and sold the morning-after pill. We posed as women in need of the prescription and documented the responses of all pharmacists we were able to speak with. These results are represented in Chapter 5. It was important to be able to speak with on-the-ground providers in order to gain a more realistic understanding of how a state’s various laws impact and influence a women’s ability to access an abortion and how a provider’s clinic deals with the ongoing onslaught of protestors.
